Saints Score Opening Day Shutout

08/26/2011 – The men's soccer team defeated Goshen by the score of 3-0 to kick off the 2011 season. The Saints used a strong defense and an opportunistic offense to control the game versus the Maple Leafs.

Aquinas scored their first goal of the season on a knuckleball off the foot of transfer Billy Cremans in the 16th minute. Cremans found the back of the net again on a pinpoint laser shot that sailed above the Maple Leafs keeper head in the 29th minute. The Saints dominated the field of play during the first half and took a 2-0 advantage into the locker room. The Saints closed the scoring during the 58th minute as Tyler Fischer's header off Michael Gagnon's corner kick. Jesse Guevara-Lehker was awarded the victory as he stopped two shots on goal.

Aquinas will return to action on Wednesday with a home contest against St. Xavier.
