09/02/2011 – The women's soccer team was defeated by Adrian College by the score of 3-1. The Bulldogs earned their first victory of the year, while the Saints fall to 2-2 on the season.
The Saints and Bulldogs not only had to deal with each other, but also mother nature who supplied a hot and humid back drop for today's game. Adrian College, who was competing in their season opener, started the scoring in the 32nd minute on a goal by Ellery Karsten. The Bulldogs extended the lead early in the second half on goal by Sam Barker. The Saints continued to battle and broke through in the 81st minute when Madeline Rammal notched her first goal of the season to draw within one goal. Freshman Elizabeth Vaughan was credited with the assist on Rammal's goal. The momentum was short lived as the Bulldogs answered right back in the 82nd minute with their third goal of the game. Ellery Karsten once again found the back of the net to give Adrian the 3-1 victory.
Chayna Wallace, the Bulldogs keeper, recorded six saves, while Aquinas' Kelsey Duley was credited with nine stops.
The Saints will close their five game home stand on Saturday as Aquinas hosts Illinois Tech (0-2) at 3:30 p.m.
