Women's Lacrosse Hosts 3 on 3 Tournament

09/14/2011 – The Aquinas College Women's Lacrosse team played host to 160 high school and middle school female lacrosse players and their families on September 10th.

Teams were made up of a maximum of five players and the tournament was designed to follow the format of a 3 on 3 basketball tournament. Teams traveled from as far away as Indianapolis, Indiana and featured some outstanding play at both levels, as teams battled through a round of pool play games and then double elimination bracket play.

"While games are only eight minutes long, when you play eleven games in a day, that really adds up.", stated Head Coach Frank Rogers. "Our players did a great job of running the tournament, officiating the games and keeping stats."

The level of play in the High School Division was very strong and a surprising team named "Shooting Stars", made up of local players who had not played together till that day, upset a very good Just Lax team from Mattawan to win the Championship.

Helene Miller as named outstanding High School Goalie and Alyssa Kaminski was outstanding Middle School Goalie for the tournament.
