10/06/2011 – The women's volleyball team netted a three set victory over the Cardinals from Concordia. The victory improved the Saints record to 14-8 overall and 2-1 in league play, while the Cardinals dropped to 11-8 on the season and 0-3 in the WHAC.
The Saints, playing in front of their home fans, survived a scare in the first set to defeat the Cardinals in three (26-24, 25-12, and 25-20). Aquinas was carried by the strong play of freshman Allison Griffiths who recorded 14 kills. Griffiths, who prepped at Dewitt High School, had her best game in an Aquinas uniform. Jessica Bredeweg orchestrated the offense en route to 20 assists, while Sarah LeClair led the Saints with 20 digs.
Aquinas will travel to Sylvania, Ohio on Friday to tangle with the newest addition to the WHAC, Lourdes (6-13, 0-2). The match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
