Saints to Host NAIA Great Lakes Challenge

10/21/2011 – Aquinas College will host the Fourth Annual NAIA Great Lakes Cross Country Challenge Saturday, October 22 at Riverside Park. The meet will attract thirty-six schools, including some of the top NAIA Schools in the country.

The women's race will feature twelve of the top forty teams in the country including #1 Azusa Pacific (CA) and #6 Olivet Nazarene (IL). Top individuals in the women's race include Azusa's Lauren Jimison, Rachael Dean of St. Xavier (IL), Lauren Versweyveld of Olivet Nazarene (IL), and Danielle Brenon of Houghton (NY).

The men's race will be even more competitive as four of the top 18 (an ten of the top forty) teams in the country will be present. Top 25 ranked teams in the field include #7 Shawnee State (OH), #12 Aquinas (MI), #15 St. Francis (IL), #18 Olivet Nazarene (IL), and #23 Siena Heights (MI).

The individual race should be exciting as Shawnee State's Galen Dills and Aquinas' Dustin Heiler are the top two returners from last year's meet. Also looking for the individual title will be Azusa Pacific's Wade Meddles, Olivet Nazarene's Mitchell Dale and Brian Corcoran from St. Xavier

The men's race will start at 11:00 a.m. with the women's race to follow at noon.
