12/03/2011 – The women's basketball team was defeated by Northwestern Ohio today at the Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center. The victory improved the Racers record to 2-7 on the season and 1-1 in league play, while the Saints fell to 6-5 overall and 1-1 in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference.
The Saints ran into a buzz saw today as the Racers defeated Aquinas by the count of 84-68. Northwestern Ohio, who had been in a season long funk, found their groove at the expense of the Saints. The trio of Shaye Warman, Karrah Windau, and Amanda Francis spearheaded the second half assault that saw the Racers connect on 66% of their field goals. Northwestern Ohio was especially lethal from behind the three-point stripe where they converted ten of 19 attempts. The silver lining for the Saints was delivered by Marisa Marx, whose breakthrough performance kept the game close. Marx went 8-14 from the field for a game high 21 points.
The Saints will return to action on Monday with a home date versus Rochester (7-5).
