01/12/2012 – The Aquinas College Women’s Basketball program signed their first recruit for the 2012-13 season. Karli Jacob, the talented 5’9” forward from Gaylord St. Mary’s, will provide the Saints with an added punch in all aspects of the game. Last season, as a junior, Jacob averaged 16 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals per game. Jacob led her high school team to a 21-3 record before they were defeated in the regional title game. A four year varsity starter, Jacob has garnered first team All-Conference honors her freshman, sophomore and junior years. Last season she was a BCAM (Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan) first team selection in Class D. Karli was awarded the “Otsego County Player of the Year” by the Gaylord Herald Times last season. Jacob was also an All-State Honorable Mention selection by the Detroit News.
Jacob is having a strong senior campaign as her team is currently undefeated and rated number two in the state in Class D. Karli has posted a game high of 30 points this season. Head coach Linda Nash comments, "Karli Jacob is a real gem. When she came on campus to visit, it was an instant fit. Jacob is a model student-athlete and a quality individual. Karli has polished basketball skills will make her a great fit in our program. She can flat out shoot the ball and hit 80 three point shots her first two years in high school. Jacob comes from an athletic family and her two older sisters both played collegiate basketball. Karli is a gym rat and her dad is an assistant boy’s coach at Boyne City High School, so she has a great understanding of the game.”
