01/26/2012 – The women's basketball team suffered a road loss at the hands of Northwestern Ohio 73-69. The victory improved the Racers record to 12-11 on the season and to 6-5 in league play, while the Saints fell to 13-9 overall and to 6-5 in the WHAC. The two teams find themselves tied for fifth in the current WHAC standings.
Northwestern Ohio used a 16-1 spurt midway through the first half to give themselves some early breathing room. The Saints quickly recovered and went on their own 14-0 scoring binge to get back in the game. The game remained tight with the Racers taking a 37-35 lead into the locker room.
The contest see-sawed back and forth for much of the second half with numerous times and lead changes. The difference was execution down the stretch that saw the Racers score nine of the games final 13 points. Taelor Sanders led the Saints with 22 points, six rebounds, and five assists.
Aquinas will return to action on Saturday with a home contest versus Cornerstone (14-9, 7-4 WHAC) at 1 p.m.
