02/05/2012 – The men's basketball team dominated the first half and enabled the Saints to defeat UM Dearborn 56-44. The victory evens the Saints record at 13-13 overall and to 9-5 in the WHAC, while the Wolves fall to 2-24 on the season and to 1-13 in league play.
The Saints used a 16-1 spurt midway through the first half to break the game wide open. Aquinas' signature defense was on full display as the Wolves could only muster six points in the games first 15 minutes. The half concluded with the Saints holding a 33-13 advantage over UM Dearborn. Aquinas shot 57% from the field during the half compared to 17% for the Wolves.
The Saints weathered some adversity in the second half, but were able to walk away with an all important league victory. Brett Pfahler paced the Saints with 17 points, while Jake Shockey added ten points and nine rebounds. The Saints will travel to Adrian on Wednesday to battle Siena Heights (6-20, 3-11 WHAC) at 7:30 p.m.
