Second Half Shooting Dooms Saints

02/19/2012 – The women's basketball team was defeated by Madonna at the Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center by the score of 69-53. The victory improved the Crusaders record to 11-16 on the season and to 8-10 in league play, while the Saints fell to 15-14 overall and to 8-10 in the WHAC.

The two teams, who were jockeying for position in the upcoming WHAC tournament, treated their fans to an exciting first half of play. The two teams combined for 83 points (43-40 Madonna's advantage), 17 assists, and 11 three point makes.

The halftime adjustments were made and the defenses took center stage in half number two. The Saints struggled and shot 17% from the field and were limited to 13 second half points. The Crusaders turned the close contest into a runaway victory. Taelor Sanders led the Saints with 16 points, ten rebounds, and six assists.

The Saints enter the postseason tournament as the number seven seed. Aquinas will travel to Concordia to play the Cardinals on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the opening round.
