03/06/2012 – The men's lacrosse team split the first two games of their spring break trip in St. Louis. The Saints fell to the Bears of Washington-St.Louis 14-4 in a game tighter than the final score indicated. Senior Nate McCorry and freshman Grant Holloway, Tim Hansen and Zack Brancheau each had a goal for the Saints. Ty Rosema had two assists, while Josh Jeszke and James Burkhardt each added one. Freshman goalie Jimmy Watt stopped 14 shots in net.
The Saints got back to their winning ways the following day with a high scoring 28-10 victory over St. Olaf. Tremendous faceoff play and an efficient offense spurred the Saints to victory. Senior Ty Rosema (3g, 4a) led the offense with seven points, while Nate McCorry (4g, 2a) added six. Tim Hansen had four goals, Casey Coretti had three, while James Burkhardt, Josh Jeszke, Grant Holloway, Mark Evans and Jake Auyer had two goals apiece. Jordan Matheny, Mike Malloy and Jacob Jeffers all scored their first goals of the season. Jeffers dominated the middle of the field, winning 12 face-offs and recording 11 ground balls.
The Saints return to action today when they take on the 16th ranked Missouri Baptist Spartans.
