Saints drop two to Hope Flying Dutchmen

03/29/2012 – The women's softball team lost both games of their double header against Hope College. The losses drop the Saints' season record to 14-11 and move the Dutchmen to 8-10

In the first game, the Flying Dutchmen had four hits to score three runs in the first inning. The Saints came back in the bottom half of the first with two hits to score one run. Hope scored again in the second and the fourth while Aquinas only put up one more run in the third. The teams battled back and forth but the Flying Dutchmen were too much for the Saints' and eventually won 6-2.

The Saints started the second game with a surge. In the first inning, they scored one run on an RBI single from Whitney Stratton. Aquinas held their 1-0 lead until the sixth inning. Hope scored four runs on only two hits and two errors by the Saints. The women's softball team did come back in the bottom half of the sixth inning, scoring two more runs on an RBI single by Ashley Milheim. The Flying Dutchmen closed the door on the Saints in the seventh and won 4-3.

The Saints will travel to battle IU Southeast (11-11) and Marian (18-5) in a pair of weekend double headers.
