04/05/2012 – The baseball team split a pair of games with Purdue North Central in a non-conference tilt in Westville, Indiana. Aquinas sports an overall record of 14-17, while the Panthers record sits at 16-19 on the year.
The Panthers clawed their way to a 7-6 victory in game one. The Saints fell victim to a walk off single by Dubois in the bottom of the seventh inning. Brendan Penny (4-1) suffered the loss as the pitcher of record for the Saints. Aquinas banged out twelve hits, but could only cross the plate six times. The Saints received two hit performances from Brent Steele, Nick Kissane, Ryan Grigonis, Steve Crawford, and Elliot Drain.
The Saints bounced back in the night cap to earn a split of the two game set. The combination of Christian Potter and Matt Krzykwa stymied the Panther hitter by allowing two earned runs and five hits. Potter was credited with his first win of the season. The 8-3 victory was keyed by Jimmy McDonagh's hitting, as the second basemen went 2-2 with two RBI's and a run scored. Aquinas used eight hits and four Panther errors to secure the victory.
The Saints will return to Kimble Field on Saturday as they host Davenport in an Easter weekend four game series.
