04/11/2012 – The women's softball team lost both games of a twin bill to Cornerstone University. The Saints now sport a 1-3 record in the WHAC, while their overall season record stands at 18-17. The pair of victories boosts the Golden Eagles' record to 3-1 in the WHAC and to 7-17 overall.
The Saints fell victim to Cornerstone 4-1 in the first game of the doubleheader. The Saints offense was sparked in the first inning by senior, Ashley Pickel, who eventually scored Aquinas' only run of the game. The Golden Eagles offense picked their spots and found ways to put up the four runs. Ashley White was charged with the loss as she gave up three earned runs and six hits in three and two thirds. White's season record now sits at 3-8.
The second game saw much of the same as Cornerstone hit the ball early and often. Timely laid hits for the Golden Eagles led them to a 7-2 victory. Giarmo's season record dropped to 9-6 as she allowed six earned runs in four and two thirds innings of work.
The Saints are back in conference play action this weekend traveling to Siena Heights (3-1 WHAC) and Concordia (0-4 WHAC).
