04/17/2012 – The women's lacrosse team closed the regular season with four victories and are now moving on to the NWLL National Championships in Rome, Georgia. The Saints finished in fourth place in the league standings with a record of 7-3 and an overall record of 14-5. Aquinas will open play at Nationals on Thursday with a date with fifth seed Shorter University (12-6, 7-3 NWLL) at 2 p.m.
Over the weekend the Saints extended their current winning streak to eight games. Aquinas played host to a play date drawing Shorter, Missouri Baptist, Siena Heights, and Ferris State to Grand Rapids. In a key NWLL match up the Saints defeated Shorter 16-10. Aquinas proceeded to score wins versus Missouri Baptist (15-9), Siena Heights (18-7), and Ferris State (22-3) to close out their home regular season schedule.
Hannah Brogger and Kati Rogers completed the season as the top two point scorers in the league. Brogger (82 goals, 35 assists) led all scorers with 117 points, while Rogers (60 goals, 16 assists) contributed 76 for the season.
