04/17/2012 – The baseball team dropped four in Fort Wayne over the weekend to the host Warriors of Indiana Tech. The Saints are now 7-13 in the league and 17-23 overall, while the Warriors improved to 15-5 in the WHAC and 28-16 on the season.
The Saints aided the Warriors in the first game on Friday with five errors. Indiana Tech broke the game open with a six run sixth inning to put the game on ice. Taylor Pawlanta's hit a home run and drove in three, but it was not enough as the Saints fell 13-6. The night cap was controlled by the Warriors pitcher, Tyler Snoke. Snoke limited the Saints to one run and scattered eight hits in seven innings of work. Meanwhile the Tech bats remained red hot scorching the Saints by the count of 12-1.
The Saints looked to gain a split on Saturday, but suffered the same fate as the day before. A pair of victories (10-2 and 8-1) by Indiana Tech left the Saints in serious need of conference victories. The lone highlight from Saturday came from Brent Butgereit that collected five hits between the two games.
Aquinas will look to right the ship with non-league games versus Hope and Purdue North Central before returning home to host Lourdes in a key WHAC match up.
