Saints Win Nine Events at Championships

05/07/2012 – The men's and women's track & field teams placed 3rd and 4th respectively at the WHAC Outdoor Championships contested at Siena Heights University. Indiana Tech won the league championships on the women's side with 223.5 points, while Siena Heights captured the men's portion with 234 points.

The Saints captured conference championships in nine events. Earning All-Conference accolades included: Rumeal McKinney (400m Relay), Blake Garvey (400m Relay), Ryan Parminter (400m Relay), Jake Sanders (400m Relay), Caleb Teachout (800m and 3200m Relay), Nick Thelen (3200m Relay), Grant Gunneson (3200m Relay), Dustin Heiler (3200m Relay), Stephen Glinski (10000m), Joe Stachowicz (Hammer), Rachael Steil (1500m & 5000m), Alina Dhaseleer (10000m), and Emily Smith (Discus).

Other highlights included a new school record for Jordan Gerard in the pole vault (15-5). Jason Parnell ran the second best 400m of all-time (48.90), Joe Stachowicz netted the second furthest toss in the Hammer (181-5), while Caleb Uecker-Herman recorded the all-time #2 performance in the 400m Hurdles (55.15). The 800 meter brought two of the fastest times ever as Caleb Teachout ran a 1:51.92 (#2 all-time) and Nick Thelen posted a 1:52.23 (#3 all-time). The ladies received outstanding performances from the 4x100 meter relay team (Madison Koenig, Dana Kolnitys, Sam DeStefano, and Joordan Hall) that ran a 47.58 to record the fourth fastest time ever, while Rachael Steil ran a personal best and #5 performance in the 1500m (4:47.04).
