Vander Meer Era Starts With a Victory

08/26/2012 – The women's volleyball team broke the ice on the 2012 season with a 3-0 victory at home over Rochester College. The Saints are 1-0 on the young season, while the Warriors of Rochester dropped to 1-6.

Today's match marked the head coaching debut of Betsy and Katie Vander Meer. The mother/daughter combination breathed a sigh of relief as they cleared the first hurdle on their schedule. The Saints used a balanced attack to cruise to the three game victory (25-18, 25-17 and 25-19). Offensively the Saints were paced by the seven kills recorded by Megan Toth and MacKenzie Kolstad. Nicci Thomas engineered the offense and tallied 27 assists, while Rachel Sprenger was credited with 14 digs.

The Saints will travel to Chicago, Illinois next weekend to take part in the annual St. Xavier Tournament.
