Saints Score Early and Often

09/07/2012 – The women's soccer team tied a school record as they recorded eleven goals in a shutout victory over Andrews University. The win evened the Saints record at 2-2, while the Cardinals fell to 0-4 on the season.

The eventual game winner came in the second minute of play as Melissa Hogan scored off a corner kick by Maggie Keiffer. Following the opening goal the floodgates opened as the Saints would go onto score six more goals in the next twenty minutes. A pair of goals by Madeline Rammal and single goals by Hogan, Lauren McFall, Alexandra Mancini and Timera Crosby lifted the Saints to the touchdown lead at the 23:34 mark of the first half. The duo of Kelli Sprenger and Kelly Petzold both added late first half goals to give the Saints the nine goal lead at the half.

The Saints continued to dominate possession in the second half and continued to find ways to score goals. Aquinas' Mollie Lindeman and Ryanne James both found the back of the net during the 57th and 71st minute respectively to close the scoring. Overall the Saints out shot the Cardinals 56-0 with 24 of those being on goal.

The Saints will be off until next Friday when they travel to Marion, Indiana to play Grace (5-0-1) in a neutral setting on the campus of Indiana Wesleyan.
