Fischer Breaks Single Season Scoring Record

10/17/2012 – The men's soccer game was highlighted by Tyler Fischer's hat trick that broke the school record for goals in a single season. The Saints logged another victory in league play to boost their conference record to 6-1 and to 11-3-1 on the season, while the Cardinals fell to 6-8-2 overall and to 3-4-1 in the WHAC.

Tyler primed the Saints offense with a goal at 7:05 mark of the first half to give Aquinas the early 1-0 advantage. Justin Reamon was credited with the assist on Fischer's first goal. Casey Higgason, who has also has been a scoring tear of late, added to the lead with his ninth goal of the season during the 28th minute of play. Billy Cremeans notched the assist on Aquinas' second goal of the game. The Cardinals Jonathan Heslop sliced the lead in half as he converted a penalty kick to close the scoring in the first half.

The duo of Fischer and Higgason struck two more times in the second half to lift the Saints to the 4-1 victory. Fischer, the Jenison native, scored his second and the historic third goal of the game during the 54th and 55th minute of play. Higgason was credited for setting up both of Tyler's goal.
