11/03/2012 – The women's cross country team placed second out of ten schools at the WHAC Championships contested at Riverside Park. The Saints lost an epic battle with crosstown rival Cornerstone by one point (33-34) and will now await to see if an invitation to Nationals as an at-large berth comes there way.
The Saints were led by the All-WHAC performances of Rachael Steil, Alina Dhaseleer, Britta Patterson and Carley Woolcott. Steil (18:26) led the Saints with a second place finish, while Dhaseleer (18:34), Patterson (18:43) and Woolcott (18:53) finished in fourth, sixth and seventh respectively. Jamie Sansone rounded out the scoring for the Saints with a new personal best time of 19:25 (15th place). Sansone was also recognized as the Saints Champion of Character representative, while Patterson was crowned the "Newcomer of the Year" in the WHAC.
Six Saints were also honored as Academic All-WHAC for maintaining high standing in the classroom. This group included Dhaseleer, Jessica Dippel, Jackie Katt, Carly Plank, Rachel Reyna and Steil.
Coach Wojciakowski stated, "I couldn't be more proud of these ladies. Win, lose or draw we competed to our potential and gave the Golden Eagles everything we had. I am especially proud of how our freshman competed in the first conference experience. We had four freshman in the top seven and ran the 4th fastest team time in school history. Hopefully today's performance proves we are a team that deserves to go to Nationals."
