12/13/2012 – The second installment of the NAIA Learfield Director’s Cup standings has been released and Aquinas is currently in eleventh place with 169 points. This set of standings includes the sports of men’s and women’s cross country, men's and women's soccer and women's volleyball. Olivet Nazarene currently holds the top spot with 258 total points.
The Learfield Director’s Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and the USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 12 sports - six women's and six men's.
The Saints received 75 points for their fifth place finish in men's cross country, while the women accounted for 69 points based off their seventh place performance at the NAIA National Championships in Fort Vancouver, Washington. The men's soccer team accounted for 25 points based on their qualification for the NAIA Championships.
Aquinas remains the highest WHAC institution in the Director's Cup standings. Cornerstone is currently in 35th place with 81 points, while Madonna checks in at #46 with 57 points.
The final fall standings will be released on December 20th and will include men's football.
