Trio of Saints Honored by WHAC

12/18/2012 – Three members of the men's and women's track and field teams were recognized by the WHAC for their outstanding efforts in the GVSU Holiday Open.

Courtney Klawieter, a freshman from Rockford, was named the WHAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week. Klawieter was a busy Saint on Friday night as she posted three solid efforts for Aquinas. Courtney placed 5th in the 60 meters (8.04), 6th in the 200 meters (26.17) and anchored the women's 4x400 meter relay to a fourth place finish.

Michael Shearon, a sophomore from Brighton, had a breakout performance in the men's high jump to receive the WHAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week. Shearon, who prepped at Detroit Catholic Central, set a personal best by jumping 6-6.25. Shearon's missed a provisional qualifying mark for the indoor championships by a half-inch, but did established himself as the #5 high jumper all-time at Aquinas.

Andrew Vojtko, a middle distance runner from St. Joseph, was named the WHAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week. Andrew led the Saints in the 600 meters with a time of 1:24.78. Vojtko's performance placed him second overall and marked a huge personal best for the junior from Lake Michigan Catholic.
