01/05/2013 – The women's basketball team suffered the worst loss in school history as the Saints fell to fifth ranked Davenport 108-49. The victory improved the Panthers record to 17-0 and to 9-0 in league play, while the Saints fell to 8-7 on the season and to 4-5 in the WHAC. The Saints are now currently in seventh place in the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference standings.
The Saints, who were looking to break a two game losing streak, were ambushed out of the gates as the Panthers scored 25 of the games first 30 points. The 25-5 advantage at the 12:32 mark of the first half proved to much to overcome as the Panthers attack and pressure was constant throughout the remainder of the game.
The Panthers took a 55-29 advantage into the locker room and never looked back. The second half saw more of the same as Davenport triumphed 108-49. The 108 points allowed was the second most ever allowed by a Saints squad. Aquinas' 30 turnovers and 30% shooting aided in Davenports effort to stay perfect on the season. The Saints were led by Danielle Lollo ten points, while Karli Harris' 16 points paced four Panthers in double figures.
The Saints will return to the court on Wednesday as Aquinas will host Lawrence Tech (5-8, 3-6 WHAC) at the Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center at 6 p.m.
