02/05/2013 – The men's hockey team participated in a Military Tribute Night at the Griff's Ice House on Saturday night. The Saints were defeated by Grand Valley 4-1, but the event raised $1,008 for Operation Injured Soldier.
Operation Injured Soldier is a registered non profit organization that aids in the mental and physical rehabilitation of our wounded heroes by fulfilling their dreams. The foundation raises funds to provide disabled soldiers with hunting, fishing, camping trips along with many other outdoor recreational activities. Through corporate sponsorships and individual donations, these trips are provided at no cost to our wounded heroes. More information is available at www.injuredsoldiers.org
In addition to the donation of all gate receipts, the Saints wore their special military pattern “camo-style” jerseys that went on sale on an individual basis after the game. Other highlights of the night included a ceremonial puck drop and a Operation Wounded Soldier informational booth. Also special recognition of the Army National Guard 125th Infantry and 126th Cavalry troops who recently returned from deployment from Afghanistan was given.
