Inaugural Bowling Season in the Books

02/13/2013 – The men's and women's bowling teams concluded their seasons with the WHAC Championships this past weekend. The tournament was hosted by Davenport University at the Fairlanes Bowl in Grandville.

The men's team finished in sixth during the qualifying rounds with 682 pins. During the match play rounds the Saints fell to both Lawrence Tech and the eventual WHAC champion, Davenport. The Panthers eliminated the Saints in a closely contested match. Aquinas was represented on the All-WHAC Academic team by Zander Atwood and Tim Pleune, while Travis Hunt was named the Saints representative on the Champions of Character squad.

The women's team concluded their qualifying round in fifth place with a total of 592 pins. The Saints were then matched up with Siena Heights in the opening round of match play. The Saints from Adrian were victorious and forced the Saints to have to work through the opposite side of the bracket. Aquinas was then defeated by Northwestern Ohio in Match #10 to conclude their season. Kara Turkstra was named to the WHAC's Women's Bowling Champions of Character squad.

Coach Frank Rogers also passed out team awards to the squad at the conclusion of the season.

Most Improved Bowlers: Sadie Settlemyre & Travis Hunt
Anchor Award: Kara Turkstra, Lauren Kingsley & Zander Atwood
