02/14/2013 – The Aquinas College men's and women's track & field teams recently received the Association of Track Officials of Michigan award (ATOM) for their services to the high school track and field meets at Houseman Field.
The students were recognized for providing help to officials in the training and timing systems for the regional and state finals.
"This is a fun way to help the track and field community and work for something I'm passionate about," says Rachael Steil, Aquinas track athlete. "It's a good environment to be in."
The track team helped keep the field events like long jump, throwing events, and high jump running smoothly as well as using stopwatches to record times for the running events. Their contribution to the track meets have provided a positive influence to the athletes competing and the workers in charge.
