02/17/2013 – The women's basketball team concluded their season with a 81-75 set back to the Crusaders of Madonna on Senior Day at the Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center. The victory improved Madonna's record to 19-10 on the season and to 15-7 in league play, while the Saints finished at 8-14 in the WHAC and 12-16 overall. The Crusaders are penciled in as the fourth seed in the upcoming WHAC Tournament, while the Saints season comes to a close based on their ninth place finish in the league standings. Shelby Carter, Clare Conway, Liza Flewelling and Hayley O'Meara were honored at halftime for their commitment to the women's basketball program over the years.
The Saints entered the last regular season contest on their schedule knowing a win would extend their season, while a loss would end the year and switch their focus to next year. Madonna, who had won seven of their last nine games, was the only road block between the Saints and a trip to the WHAC Tournament.
Coach Nash had the Saints ready to play as the two teams were locked in a classic late season battle. The lead changed hands 16 times and the game saw 12 ties. Neither squad entertained a lead larger than six points throughout the contest. In the end it was Madonna's balanced attack that carried the Crusaders to victory. Four players netted double figures for Madonna in the 81-75 win.
The Saints were led by Chelsea Matley who scored a game high 22 points. Allison Heberlein chipped in with 16 points, while Clare Conway concluded her career with a 15 point effort.
