02/28/13 – The opening day of competition is in the books at the NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Geneva, Ohio.
Brendan Molony opened the action for the Saints with a 14th place finish (15:18) in the 5000 meter. Molony narrowly missed qualifying for the finals and was just one second off his lifetime best. The men's 4x400 meter relay (Ray Bordeaux, Eric Reed, Jason Parnell and Caleb Teachout) placed 11th, missing the finals by less than a second. The foursome's time of 3:17.85 was the second fastest time in Aquinas history.
The women's 4x400 meter relay achieved a season best (3:59.04) to place 13th in the events preliminary round. Brooke Fuller, Courtney Klawieter, Fiana Comer and Kaitlyn Henniger recorded the fifth fastest time in school history .
Aquinas' night concluded with the men running the Distance Medley Relay. The quartet of Tom Willet, Andrew Vojtko, Nick Whise and Jacob Towne placed 20th with a time of 10:33.59.
Competition resumes tomorrow at 1 p.m.
