Saints to Host NAIA Great Lakes Challenge

10/22/2010 – Aquinas College will host the 3rd annual NAIA Great Lakes Cross Country Challenge Saturday, October 23 at Riverside Park. The meet will attract thirty-one schools, including some of the top NAIA Schools in the country.

The women’s race will feature the #18 and #25 ranked teams in the country in Aquinas (MI) and Olivet Nazarene (IL). Top individuals in the women’s race include Aquinas' Rachael Steil, Rachael Dean of St. Xavier (IL), Michaela Crew of Spring Arbor (MI), Lauren Versweyveld of Olivet Nazarene (IL), and Trisha Miller of Bethel (IN).

The men’s race will be even more competitive as seven of the top 31 teams in the country will be present. Ranked teams in the field include #2 Shawnee State (OH), #7 Aquinas (MI), #20 Olivet Nazarene (IL) , #24 Cedarville (OH) and #25 Cornerstone (MI). Also expected to battle for one of the top spots will be St. Francis (IL) and Siena Heights (MI).

The individual race should be exciting as the packs of Shawnee State and Aquinas battle up front with Cornerstone's Zach Ripley and Alex Green, Nate Martin (Spring Arbor) and Jesiah Rodriguez (Siena Heights).

The men’s race will start at 11:00 a.m. with the women’s race to follow at noon.
