04/08/2013 – The women's lacrosse team defeated Siena Heights 25-8 to pencil themselves in as the #2 seed in the upcoming WHAC Tournament. The victory improved the Saints record to 10-4 overall and to 4-2 in the WHAC, while Siena Heights fell to 0-6 in league play and to 1-12 on the season.
The Saints, who were celebrating senior day, did not let the emotions of the day interfere with the team's objective. Kati Rogers, Liza Flewelling, Bre Stockall and Lauren McCarty were all honored for the service and dedication to the lacrosse program over the last four seasons.
An early blitz by Flewelling and McCarty paved the way for the Saints. Aquinas maintained a steady stream of goals during the first 30 minutes to build a 16-5 halftime lead. The lead swelled to 25-5 heading into the games waning moments. A trio of goals late in the contest by Siena Heights concluded the scoring and led to the 25-8 final score.
McCarty led the way with nine goals, while Alexandra Burns scored five goals and assisted on three others.
The Saints will host Olivet (2-4) on Tuesday before switching their attention to Davenport and the WHAC Championships on Thursday.
