04/25/2013 – The softball team swept a pair of games from Indiana Tech in a doubleheader contested at the Gainey Athletic Complex. The victories improved the Saints record to 7-5 in the WHAC and to 21-14 overall, while the Warriors fell to 9-25 on the season and to 2-10 in league play.
The two teams, who had planned on playing in Fort Wayne, were forced to switch the WHAC twinbill to the Gainey Athletic Complex in Grand Rapids due to weather. The Saints used the home cooking to sweep the set 7-1 and 9-1 in six innings.
The first game was renamed the "Stewart & Stowell Show". The pair combined for eight hits, three runs and two RBI's. Carlie Giarmo, who earned her tenth victory of the season, allowed one run and scattered five hits over seven innings.
The Saints continued to role in game two as Aquinas took care of business in six innings. Stewart continued her fine play as she went 2-5 with 4 RBI's, while Emily Corning went 3-4 with 3 RBI's and 2 runs scored. Rebecca Shineldecker picked up her seventh victory of the season as she surrendered one run on three hits.
The Saints will return to action on Friday as they travel to Sylvania, Ohio to battle Lourdes.
