04/28/2013 – The women throwers stole the show as four hit qualifying marks at the Ernie Mousseau Track & Field Classic hosted by Aquinas College. With the WHAC Championships looming, the Saints took advantage of a low-key meet on a beautiful spring afternoon in West Michigan. In all the Saints set 30 personal bests, had three top-five performances, one school record, one automatic qualifier and six provisional marks for the National Meet.

The women's hammer throw event highlighted the day for the Saints. Emily Smith (163-3), Lindsey Karpowicz (162-11, #2 All-Time), Rachel Bartels (162-6, #3 All-Time) and Kyra Hull (156-10) all bettered the "B" standard. Smith, who already owns the school record in the hammer, delivered the #1 discus throw in the country with a new personal best of 164-6. On the track Erika Heston hit a provisional mark in the 100 meter hurdles by running a 15.07.

The men's field events also performed well as Adam Lohner established a new standard in the men's pole vault. Lohner's vault of 16-0.75 broke his previous best by three inches. The duo of Ryan Helminiak and Michael Shearon both hit the "B" standard in the high jump as both cleared 6-8.

Also contributing first place performances were: Ryan Parminter (200m - 22.34), Caleb Teachout (400m - 49.07), Brad Persbacher (3000m Steeple - 10:10.76), Men's 4x100 Relay (42.15), Alvaro Romero (Long Jump - 22-2), Micaila Rice (100m/200m - 12.39/25.64), Mary Bogardus (800 meters - 2:21.73), Women's 4x100 meter relay (48.39) and Alicia Dorko (Pole Vault - 11-3.75).
