Smith Headlines Day One of Championships

05/23/13 – Emily Smith earned her fifth All-American award of her career as she placed sixth in the hammer with a school record toss of 174-8. The performance eclipsed her previous best by over two feet. Also competing for the Saints in the women's hammer were: Lindsey Karpowicz (16th - 151-1), Rachel Bartels (18th - 144-8) and Kyra Hull (19th - 136-3). On the men's side, Joe Stachowicz completed his career with a 15th place finish in his specialty event. Joe's recorded a throw of 163-2 in the hammer.

The women's 4x100 meter relay team consisting of Erika Heston, Courtney Klawieter, Marissa Ingersoll and Micaila Rice placed 14th with a time of 48.39. Women's pole vaulter, Alicia Dorko also placed 14th with a vault of 11-1.75.

The men's 4x800 relay placed 17th with a time of 8:00.52. The team consisted of Tom Willet, Grant Gunneson, Luke Hawley and Caleb Teachout.

Action for the Saints will begin tomorrow at 1 p.m. with Alvaro Romero competing in the long jump.
