08/11/2013 – The Aquinas College Athletic Department was once again a sponsor for the annual St. Jude/Brian Bush Putt for Life. This year's event was the 25th annual and was held at Loeschner's Village Green on July 27th in Grandville, Michigan.
The previous years of this event have raised $522,000 for research and treatment at St. Jude's Children Hospital. Brian Bush, the son of Marge and Michael Bush, was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 1983. When St. Jude opened its doors in 1962, the survival rate for Medulloblastma was 10%. Today the survival rate is 85%, due largely to the research being done at St. Jude's Children's Hospital. The St. Jude/Brian Bush Putt-For-Life Event is one of many events that help push the survival rate up for this once life threatening condition.
The Aquinas College Athletic Department has been a hole sponsor on a yearly basis. Aquinas student-athlete's spend the afternoon assisting and participating with this very important event.
