08/28/2013 – Allison VanPatten's goal during the 96th minute of play was all the Saints needed to claim victory #1 on the 2013 season. The late heroics lifted the Saints to a 1-0 victory, while Huntington is still searching for their first win (0-2) of the season.
The Saints, whose season opener was cut short on Tuesday night, were looking to start the home schedule on the right foot. The women's soccer team was at the start of a five game gauntlet of the Crossroads Conference.
Aquinas out shot the Foresters by a decisive 34-7 margin. The Saints kept the pressure on Huntington's keeper for the better part of both halves. Mary Whybrew notched 13 saves, but was credited with the loss as VanPatten found the back of the net during the first extra ten minute session. Aquinas goalie, Molly O'Conner recorded two saves and earned the victory in net for the Saints.
The Saints will return to the home turf on Saturday as they host Marian (2-1) at 12:30 p.m.
