09/01/2013 – The women's soccer team tallied goals by eight different players to defeat Marian by the count of 8-1. The offensive explosion kept the Saints perfect and extended their winning streak to two, while the Knights dropped to 2-2 on the season.
After a one goal overtime victory in their first contest, the Saints left little to doubt during their second effort of the week. The Saints offense scored early and often versus their guests from Indianapolis. The offense was kick started by freshman Leeann Latsch during the matches fourth minute of play. The eventual game-winner was scored by fellow freshman, Cami Baker, during the games tenth minute. The final goal of half number one was scored by former goalkeeper, Jackie Gipe. The Saints headed to the locker room with a three goal advantage and looked to keep the pressure on during the games final 45 minutes.
The halftime break did not slow down the Saints offense as they erupted for five more goals over a twenty minute stretch during the second half. Mikayla Goldsmith, Elizabeth Vaughan, Casey Westveer, Maggie Keiffer and Kelly Petzold all converted shots on goal to extend Aquinas' advantage. The Knights did add a goal by Sharisse Yoder during the 78th minute to get on the scoreboard. The trio of Molly O'Connor, Lindsay Armstrong and Cristal Kurkowski combined to record three saves en route to the Saints victory.
Aquinas will return to action with a home date on Wednesday versus Bethel (1-1-1) starting at 6:30 p.m.
