2013-14 Schedule

  • Performs during the half-time of men's and women's basketball games.
 
 

Team Information

Competitive dance team attends various dance competitions each season including the NAIA Conference, Regionals and Nationals (based on qualification). The team also performs during half-time of the men’s and women’s basketball home games. Dance styles: jazz, hip hop, pom pon, kickline.

 
The dance team performs during all home games of the men’s and women’s basketball games as well as dancing on sidelines. While the team is focused on increasing school spirit, an important focus for the team is competition. The dance team placed first at NAIA Conference Regionals on February 11, 2013 earning them a silver bid to Nationals. The team will end their season competing for a national title in Daytona Beach, Florida in April.
 

DANCE TRYOUTS

Tryouts for the Saints Dance Team will be Saturday, April 26th (clinic day) and Sunday, April 27th (tryouts) from 8:30-10:30 am in the Group Exercise room of the Sturrus Sports and Fitness Center. April 26th is the clinic day where they will learn a 1:00-1:30 minute routine of pom/jazz/hip hop style. Additionally, dancers will go over skills needed for tryouts. Skills include: double/triple turns, leaps, switch leaps, open second leaps, turning second jumps, fouettes, splits, leg extensions (both right and left). Lara Webster

Lara Webster - Head Coach

Lara enters her fifth season as head coach for the Saints Dance Team. She coach 2007-2010 before moving away for her husband's job. In 2010, she coached the dance team to NDA Nationals in Daytona Beach, FL where the team placed in the Top Ten. In 2012, Lara returned as head coach and during that season, the team placed first at NAIA Conference Regionals and second place at NDA Nationals. Lara graduated from Aquinas College with a bachelor's degree in Sustainable Business with a minor in French. Coach Lara is very excited for a new season that will focus on competition and performing at home basketball games.

   
Renee Cavaliere

Renee Cavaliere - Head Coach

Coach Renee enters her first year of co-coaching Aquinas College’s Dance Team. She spent 1 year coaching Seaholm High School's JV and Varsity program and the past 2 years coaching Rockford High School's JV Dance Team. In 2012, she helped bring Seaholm High School to Orlando for NDA Nationals where the team placed 7thoverall. While she was a student at Aquinas, Renee was a 3 year member of Aquinas’ dance team. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Learning Disabilities and currently teaches at Rockford Public Schools. Renee is very excited to begin her first year as a collegiate coach alongside her former coach and friend, Lara Webster.
