Lara enters her fifth year as the Head Dance Coach after participating on the team for four consecutive years. A Ludington High School graduate, she spent many years teaching dance to middle school aged students. Along with coaching the Aquinas Dance team, she choreographs annually for a competition team in Ludington, MI. In May of 2007, she graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Sustainable Business. Millicent Shratz

Assistant Coach

Mill begins her first year as Assistant Dance Coach after graduating in May 2009 from Aquinas College. Her main sport in high school was figure skating, which included several off ice classes including ballet and jazz dance classes. She also participated on her high school dance team junior and senior years. Once she graduated from St. Francis High School, she wanted to pursue her dance career by trying out for the Aquinas dance team freshman year. She danced four years on the AQ dance team.

Team Information:

  • Performs during the half-time of Men's and Women's basketball games.
  • Dance styles: Pom Pon, Jazz, Kickline, Hip Hop.

Frequently asked questions:

  • How many dancers do you take each season?

    There is not a specific number of dances each season. Each dancer is judged against a pre-determined score sheet based upon skills each season.

  • How often do you practice?

    On average, 2-3 times per week for 2 hours at a time.

  • What if I have never danced before?

    We encourage all interested to try out regardless of your dance history. We have had gymnasts, cheerleaders, and competitive dancers all on the team in previous years.

 

Try-out Information

Each spring and fall, there are clinics held for prospective dancers.

Day one: Learn 30 second jazz/pom pon routine and go over required skills.

Day two: Perform 30 second learned routine, skills and 30 second solo routine choreographed by prospective dancer.
