Team Information

Competitive dance team attends various dance competitions each season including the NAIA Conference, Regionals and Nationals (based on qualification). The team also performs during half-time of the men’s and women’s basketball home games. Dance styles: jazz, hip hop, pom pon, kickline.

The dance team performs during all home games of the men’s and women’s basketball games as well as dancing on sidelines. In 2012, the dance team placed second at NDA Nationals in Daytona Beach, Fl. This season the team will compete within the NAIA Conference with hopes of attending Nationals.



Day 1: Friday, April 17th from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Day 2: Saturday, April 18th from 9 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Day 1: Introductions, waiver completion, and a short Q&A session will begin Day 1.  Dancers will be asked to complete a variety of short skill combinations to demonstrate their technical dance abilities. They will also learn a 40-60 second jazz/pom/hip hop variety piece that will be judged the following day.

Day 2: Auditions will take place in groups of 1-2. Each group will audition the routine and perform the individual skills from the previous day. Each dancer will also audition with a 30-40 second solo piece of any dance style. Music must be provided on phone/ipod/etc. 

Where: Exercise Room of Sturrus Sports and Fitness Center

What to Wear:
Black shorts
Fitted shirt/tank
Jazz shoes
Hair pulled back into a ponytail or bun

Technical Skills:
Double and/or Triple Pirouette
Coupe Turns
High Battements (kicks)
Foutee/A La Seconde turns
Grand Jetes
Leaps in Second
Leg extensions

Optional skills:
Turning leg holds
Additional variations of leaps
Advance turning sequence

Important Reminders/What to bring:
Completed waiver
Completed Registration form
Insurance Card (If your waiver is not completed the day of tryouts)  If a dancer is under the age of 18, they will need to be accompanied by an adult/guardian for the beginning of tryouts only, to sign off on forms.

Coach Lara Webster

Lara Webster - Head Coach



Coach Lara enters her sixth season as head coach for the Saints Dance Team. She coached from 2007-2010 before moving out of state for her husband's job. In 2010, she coached the dance team to NDA Nationals in Daytona Beach, FL where the team placed in the Top Ten. In 2012, Lara returned as head coach and during that season, the team placed first at NAIA Conference Regionals and second place at NDA Nationals. Lara graduated from Aquinas College with a bachelor's degree in Sustainable Business and a minor in French. She looks forward to another season of competing and performing at home basketball games.

Renee Cavaliere

Renee Cavaliere - Head Coach



Coach Renee enters her 2nd year of Co-Head Coach Aquinas College’s Dance Team. Before that, she spent 1 year coaching Seaholm High School's Dance Team programs and 2 years coaching Rockford High School's Dance Team. In 2012, she brought Seaholm High School to Orlando for NDA Nationals where the team placed 7th overall. While she was a student at Aquinas, Renee was a 3 year member of Aquinas’ dance team. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Learning Disabilities and currently teaches at Rockford Public Schools as a Special Education Teacher. Renee is very excited to begin her second season as a collegiate coach and is looking forward to what the season brings!
