| The biology program at Aquinas College provides biology majors and minors with a broad, yet detailed background in biology that will prepare them to compete for jobs, internships and positions in graduate school or pre-professional programs in medicine, veterinary medicine, dentistry, physician assistance, physical therapy and other allied health professions. |

| General education courses in biology provide liberal arts majors with an exposure to the methodologies biologists use to investigate the world around them, and sufficient background to understand and discuss biological concepts they will encounter in the popular press and media. |

| Mission Statement |
| The mission of the Aquinas College Biology Department is to provide an environment that fosters learning, critical thinking, and scientific literacy through courses in molecular, cellular, organismal and environmental biology. Through excellence in classroom instruction, laboratory experiences that support critical concepts and opportunities for independent research, we strive to prepare students to pursue careers in the life sciences and health professions. |

| The goals of the Biology Department are to provide biology majors with: |
- a background in biology that will prepare them to pursue careers in the life sciences and/or health professions
- technical and critical thinking skills they will need in such careers
- an appreciation of the importance of scientific literacy in the modern world.
