Focus on John Baxter, Adjuct Professor of Business

John teaches interactive courses in Strategic Management, Strategic Planning, Customer Service and Logistics, Strategic Competitive Intelligence, Operations Management, and The Future of Management. He has lectured at Michigan State University and the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, and has facilitated courses for the American Management Association (The President’s Course; Strategic Planning; The Course for Senior Managers, and others).

John has held senior management positions in Strategic Planning, Sales & Marketing, and General Management. He is CEO of Compass Associates, a Strategic Intelligence Consulting firm with locations in Boston, Chicago, and Grand Rapids.

John and his wife Ginny have two children (Pete, 16, and Cathy, 12), two golden retrievers (Halsey & Nimitz), and moved to western Michigan from Chicago. His volunteer activities include Marianjoy Rehabilitation Center, Chicago; the Lake County Races (Special Olympics), Chicago; City Commissioner (2003-2005) for East Grand Rapids; East Grand Rapids Team Boosters (2003-2005); the Gifted & Talented Committee (East Grand Rapids Schools); and Rotary International (Wheaton, Ill. & Grand Rapids, Mich.) John coaches lacrosse and skiing, and loves spending as much time as possible with his family.

John has his BS in Marketing from Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan, and his Masters of Management from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois.
