Service-Learning
“My experience opened my eyes to issues of social justice that I had not thought about before. I also learned a lot about myself from being out of my comfort zone.” - AQ Service-Learning Participant

"My life has new purpose. I feel refreshed and renewed. I want to live my life differently now because I see everything that we take for granted here in the U.S." - AQ Service-Learning Participant

What is Service-Learning?
Service-Learning engages students in civic responsibility, critical thinking, and structured reflection by actively involving them in organized community service. This, in turn, prepares students for a lifetime of personal growth and social responsibility. AQ Service-Learning trips allow students to put their faith into action and practice the Dominican charisms of prayer, study, community and service.

Benefits of Service-Learning:
  • Service-learning provides students with opportunities for structured reflection on their service experience.
  • Service enhances students' learning; knowledge gained in the classroom can enhance their service in their own community.
  • Service-learning integrates classroom theory with practical application in the real world.
  • Service-learning places equal emphasis on service and learning goals. It benefits both the participants and the community.
