Sharon E. Smith, MSW, LCSW, ACSW, is the Director of Career and Counseling Services. Sharon is also an adjunct assistant professor of sociology and education. In these roles, she works with individuals with career and personal issues and teaches. In addition, she works with profit and non-profit organizations, as well as working in system thinking, diversity issues, group dynamics, and strategic planning. Sharon graduated from Aquinas College and received her Master of Social Work from Grand Valley State University. She is a licensed social worker. Sharon has thirty three years of experience in employment and training, human resources, the human services field and higher education.

Annmarie Post is the Associate Director of Career Services and is the Placement Coordinator. She teaches a Career Development class designed for Seniors and also advises both students and alumni on resumes, cover letter writing, job search strategies, interviewing skills, and other areas related to career exploration and development. Ann also works with individual employers and a number of college consortiums, to develop recruitment strategies and to help broaden the scope of employment opportunities for Aquinas students.
Before coming to Aquinas in 1999, Ann worked for 28 years at Saint Mary's Health Service as Volunteer Coordinator and Switchboard supervisor. In this role, she facilitated various hospital wide projects and served on a variety of committees.
Ann currently serves on the Advisory Board of St. Ann’s Home. She previously served as President of the Michigan Association of Colleges and Employers (Mi-ACE). She served on the consolidation committee to merge Mi-ACE with MC-ICE ( Michigan Council for Internship and Cooperative Education to form a new organization Michigan Career Educator and Employer Alliance ( MCEEA). Ann is still involved with MCEEA as the Private College Representative. Ann earned a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Grand Valley State University and holds a Master of Management from Aquinas College.

Linda Keway, Ed.D.,  is the Co-Curricular Coordinator. Linda will be teaching CD 200, a Career Development Course required for freshmen and sophomores.  She will also be providing career counseling along with training and support for staff and adjunct faculty.

Linda earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of Michigan, a Master’s degree in Special Education from Eastern Michigan University, and completed a Master’s program in Guidance and Counseling from Michigan State University.  In addition, she earned a Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership from Western Michigan University. 

Prior to coming to Aquinas, Linda worked for the public schools as a teacher, counselor, and curriculum consultant and in higher education (admissions/affirmative action). She also worked for the education association as a professional development/human rights consultant and UniServ Director. 

 
Lauretta K. Simpson, MA, LPC

Lauretta K. Simpson, MA., LPC., is the Associate Director of Career & Counseling Services and is the Internship Coordinator.  She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Lyman Briggs College at Michigan State University and earned her Master of Arts in Counseling from Michigan State University. In addition, Lauretta is a Licensed Professional Counselor with the State of Michigan.

In addition to coordinating the Internship program; Lauretta teaches in the co-curricular program and provides career counseling and resume writing advice. Her areas of specialization include; sports counseling, career development in the sciences, and mentoring in the sciences. Prior to working at Aquinas, Lauretta worked, as support staff in medical and psychiatric hospitals and as a psychiatric social worker. She also has additional training in suicide prevention through the QPR institute and in StrengthsQuest through Gallup.

Traveling is a strong interest of Lauretta's. In November 2005 she participated in a People to People Delegation to China with members of the National Career Development Association from across the country. As a People to People delegate, Lauretta visited Beijing and Shanghai, China to discuss current trends and issues in career development. She was able to meet with government officials knowledgeable of labor issues and statistics, college career development professionals, and representatives from job training social service agencies. It was her honor and privilege to represent her professional organization, the United States and Aquinas College.
