| The Computer Information Systems instructors have varied backgrounds, interests, and skill sets contributing to a well-rounded department. One full-time chairperson, two part-time adjunct assistant professors, and several adjunct faculty teach in the department. |

| The fourteen on-staff and adjunct faculty members have a combined weight of almost 300 years of experience in information technology, information systems, and management information systems fields! Adjunct CIS faculty provide a great deal of strength to the department due to their continued involvement in current industry developments - uniquely invaluable in this field. Many of our adjuncts also work in other departments at Aquinas in a full-time capacity. Full- and part-time faculty are involved in various industry and consulting ventures which enhance their teaching depth and breadth while allowing them to also keep up with current trends in the industry. The instructor backgrounds span a wide range of information technology industry and contacts including graphic design, manufacturing software development, database design, website development, education/textbook authoring, network management and administration. |

| Len Smith earned his Master’s of Science degree in Computer Information Systems from Nova University, and his Bachelor’s of Science degree from Ferris State. After serving in Vietnam, he worked in many capacities including MIS Director, Systems Analyst, Database Administrator, Programmer, and consultant. He has been teaching at Aquinas full-time since 1982, continuing to maintain outside consulting positions for current industry exposure. Currently, he heads the department as the chairperson. Len brings his experience, passion for detail, and love of programming and technology to bear in the many courses he teaches in the department, from technology to programming, networking, database, and systems. |

| Brian Clark earned his Master’s in Water Resources Science from the University of Michigan, and his Bachelor’s in Math at Michigan State University. After working in the industry as a computer programmer/analyst for 10 years, he moved into database administration and worked in that field for 15 years. He has been working in data modeling and architecture since that time. Brian will share his extensive database expertise with CIS majors. |

| Richard Clements earned his Master’s degree in Social Sciences at the University of Chicago, and his Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Computer Science at Michigan State University. Mr. Clements currently works full-time at Kentwood Public Schools in network design and administration; he applies his experience teaching networking courses at Aquinas. Prior to working at Kentwood, he was President of a software company and of an international consulting firm. Richard is entering his second year teaching at Aquinas, but has taught for many years prior at the college level in the same subject. He brings a great sense of humor along with an obvious experience level and skill in the networking arena to his courses. |

| Sally Clements earned both B.S. and M.A. degrees in Education from Western Michigan University; she also possesses an Associates degree with a technology emphasis. Prior to teaching part-time at Aquinas, she worked as an instructor in the business sector teaching employees to effectively use various PC and mainframe applications. Sally puts her background to work heading up the technology courses at Aquinas, coordinating the curriculum, requirements, and adjunct faculty teaching these courses, as well as teaching several introductory and advanced sections herself. The technology courses are part of the general education requirements for all students attending Aquinas, indicating their importance as part of a well-rounded and skillful graduate. Ms. Clements also taught at the middle- and high-school level prior to instructing in the business industry. She has taught at Aquinas since August 2001. |

| Tom Ferratt obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems from Aquinas College. Tom’s background is in software management and desktop configuration. He has worked for the past 10 years at Aquinas College where he serves as a Network Systems Administrator. He brings this daily experience to bear in his technology courses, teaching Spreadsheets to many different majors at Aquinas. Tom has taught in the CIS department of Aquinas College since 2007. |

| Victoria Fleenor earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems at Aquinas College, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in English/Professional Writing at Cedarville College. Prior to teaching and advising in a part-time role at Aquinas, she worked for 13 years in the manufacturing software industry as (first) a technical writer and (then) as a custom applications analyst/programmer. She has taught at Aquinas College for ten years and applies her experience to the department’s system courses, including Systems Analysis & Design, Project Management, and technology/programming courses at Aquinas, while continuing consulting work in the industry to maintain current skillsets. She is also completing a Master’s degree in Computer Information Systems from Grand Valley State University. |

| Carlus Henry earned his Bachelor’s of Science in Computer Information Systems from Aquinas College. He has worked for Gordon Food Service as a Software Developer, for ISD as a Tech Team Lead, and most recently as a Software Developer Consultant for Process Professionals. Carlus coordinates a Java developers’ user group in Grand Rapids, and will be sharing his operating system and development skills with beginning CIS majors in the department. |

| Joyce LaFleur earned her Master’s in Management from Aquinas College in 1995, as well as a Bachelor’s in Science in 1982 from Aquinas. She also possesses an Associate’s degree in Executive Secretarial Applied Science from Ferris State University. She has served Aquinas for over 30 years in the Information Technology department; most recently (and currently) as the head of this department. Ms. LaFleur brings her wide range of knowledge and experience to the classroom in her sections of Computer Technology, where she showcases many of the “latest and greatest” technology advances and innovations, while also providing a revealing background of the history and development of the field from personal experience. She also teaches Word Processing and Spreadsheet courses, and has contributed to the CIS department in an adjunct capacity since 2006. |

| Randy MacGeorge earned his Master’s in Management from Aquinas College, and his Bachelor’s in Music Education from Grand Valley State University. He began his career teaching and working in Residence Life at Ferris State University, but then moved to Aquinas College in a Res Life capacity. He has worked in Residence Life in various capacities at Aquinas for over 20 years, and is currently serving as Director of this department. Randy teaches sections of the Spreadsheets course, presenting not “from an expert viewpoint, but from struggles shaved from an end-user of the application in daily work.” He has taught at Aquinas since 2004. |

| Paul Zimmerman earned his Bachelor’s of Professional Studies at the State University of New York, Brockport. He has worked in the computer industry for over 25 years, first as a computer programmer, then into a self-employed capacity as the president and owner of Computer Concepts, a web design firm. Mr. Zimmerman wrote three internationally published textbooks on web development, and has a great passion for all things “internet.” He brings this experience and excitement to bear in his introductory and advanced web development courses, instructing in the “latest and greatest” web applications as well as the Adobe design environment. Paul has taught at Aquinas for 9 years. |

| Joe Zylinski earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems at Aquinas College. With a career spanning thirty years in database analysis, design, and engineering at a Fortune 1000 company, he brings a great depth of knowledge, skill, experience, and perspective to the database design and application courses he teaches at Aquinas. He has taught at Aquinas since 1995. |
