Computer Recommendations

 

For best performance on AQnet, we recommend your personal computer meet certain specifications. While these are not requirements, having or exceeding the following specifications will enhance your AQnet experience.

See "What do I need to do to get connected to AQnet?" for more information on configuring your computer on AQnet.

* Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 are currently supported. Microsoft plans to end support for Windows XP in early 2014.

**Please note that antivirus software is required for AQnet use. While Aquinas does not require a specific antivirus package at this time, ITS strongly recommends using the freely available Microsoft Security Essentials. If you are currently paying an annual fee for a security product, you may wish to switch to Microsoft Security Essentials at your next renewal period.

What if I want a desktop? Desktops typically have similar specifications as laptops. However, you will also need a keyboard, mouse, and monitor for operation. A flat panel monitor is recommended. Please note: For desktop computers that do not have wireless capabilities, a $25 Wired Service Activation Fee will be charged to your student account to have a wired network port installed in your resident hall room. You will need to provide a network cable to connect your device.
