| Economics Department Mission Statement |
| The mission of the Economics Department is to support the liberal arts and career focus of Aquinas College. Through a range of courses and activities the Economics Department offers crucial academic exposure to the study of economics and real-world examples. The department also offers students non-classroom opportunities to participate in economic projects and experiences. |

Economics Department Goals for Assessment |
- Goal I: Continue to offer Economics Major and Minor.
- Goal II: Continue to provide courses in support of Accounting, Business, International Business, Community Leadership, Sustainable Business, International Studies, Sports Management and general education.
- Goal III: To educate students in the basics of economics so they can properly participate in both a market economy and a representative democracy.
- Goal IV: Effectively prepare students to continue their academic work in graduate programs in economics, law, business, public policy, public administration, the health industry, and medical school.
- Goal V: Effectively prepare students for work in the broader economic world, especially by supporting non-classroom educational opportunities.
- Goal VI: Continue to provide courses in support of students planning to teach in the K-12 education system, especially including the Social Studies Major.

- Students will understand and analyze the fundamental theoretic and philosophical perspectives of economics;
- Students will understand and analyze the essentials of Microeconomics;
- Students will understand and analyze the essentials of Macroeconomics;
- Students will understand and analyze the essentials of International Economics;
- Students will understand and analyze the essentials of Money and Banking;
- Students will understand and analyze the essentials of Economic Theory as it has evolved;
- Students will be able to critically analyze the elements and implications of the distribution of income and wealth;
