AQ SIFE Team

Mission
As an institution rooted in the Catholic Dominican tradition, Aquinas College provides a liberal arts education with global perspective, emphasizes career preparation focused on leadership and service to others, and fosters a commitment to lifelong learning for the community. The AQ SIFE team draws from this solid educational foundation to offer students enriched opportunities to make a difference, develop leadership, teamwork and communication skills through learning, practicing and teaching the principles of free enterprise.

Vision of a Sustainable Community

Greater Grand Rapids has risen as a national leader in the sustainability movement by aggressively pursuing the construction of energy efficient buildings, educating young minds with new ideas, and expanding mass transit options.  AQ has been able to foster this movement in ecological and social intelligence by business decisions through SIFE and offering the only undergraduate Sustainable Business program of its kind in Michigan and the United States.

Philosophies
  • Community Service Philosophy: Give me a fish, I eat for a day; teach me to fish and I eat for a lifetime.
  • Teaching Philosophy: Tell me and I will forget, show me and I might remember, involve me and I will learn.
  • Leadership Philosophy: People support what they help create.
What SIFE students can do:
  • Change the world by designing educational outreach projects that help individuals in their communities develop a better understanding of the principles of free enterprise and how to use this information to empower themselves and their dreams.
  • Face a wide range of challenges, from recruiting new members, to developing innovative educational programs, to using the mass media to publicize your efforts beyond the experiences in the classroom.
  • The best companies in the world recognize the value of SIFE experience and compete very aggressively for the chance to meet and recruit SIFE students, who they believe are among the most talented college prospects.
  • Most SIFE Alumni will tell you that the best part of their SIFE experience was the opportunity to be a part of a team and the lifelong friendship they developed as a result.
