Certification Process

The final certification process begins with successful completion of Directed Student Teaching. Once the student has successfully completed all certification program requirements, and their exit interview with the Director of Student Teaching, the final certification process begins. Candidates apply for certification through the Michigan Department of Education teacher certification system, Michigan Online Educator Certification System (MOECS). Candidates may visit www.michigan.gov/moecs.com for application instructions and technical help.

 

The Provisional Certification fee of $160 is payable to the Michigan Department of Education. Certification is not complete until this fee has been paid.

 

CPR Certification:

All candidates seeking initial certification after July 1, 2004, must show proof of current CPR certification provided by either the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association. The training must include basic First Aid; adult CPR; and child CPR. Please call the Certification Officer at (616) 632-2436 with any questions regarding the CPR requirement.
