Volunteer Readers

The Children's Reading Corner needs volunteers to read to children whose caregivers are conducting business with the Department of Human Services staff. Currently operating from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Mondays and Thursdays, they hope that children will be introduced to some new and very fun-filled books. Each child is given a new book to keep when they leave. In the first three years of it's existence, The Children's Reading Corner served over 865 children and gave away approximately 1418 books. Our hope is to have enough volunteers to be able to read to the children every day DHS is open , by 2009, when they open their new building. For more information, contact Robert Ellis at 616-940-1159.(Posted 10-1-07)
