| Aquinas College has one of the very
first Student Chapters of ASCD (Association for Supervision
and Curriculum Development), having formed this chapter
in 1996. Students in the School of Education were instrumental
in developing the chapter and continue to maintain it
with a process of revolving team leadership. |

| Recognizing the importance of professional
development, the Aquinas ASCD Student Chapter offers a
series of workshops each year, focusing on issues near
and dear to the hearts of teacher candidates. |

| The Council for Exceptional Children
(CEC) is a professional organization dedicated to improving
educational outcomes for individuals with exceptionalities,
students with disabilities, and/or the gifted. CEC advocates
for appropriate governmental policies, provides continual
professional development, advocates for underserved individuals
with exceptionalities, and helps professionals obtain
conditions and resources necessary for effective professional
practice. |

| Meetings are held the first Monday
of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Upper Level of the Moose
Café. |

A
new club has made its way onto Aquinas College's campus.
AQLDA which stands for Aquinas College Learning Disabilities
Association is the first LDA college chapter in the
nation. The purpose of the AQLDA will be to connect
Aquinas education students with elementary and secondary
students from the community who have learning difficulties.
AQLDA will provide workshops with professional development
in areas concerning educating those with learning disabilities.
