Important Information for Students Pursing Elementary Teacher Certification

The Michigan Department of Education has mandated significant changes to the requirements for becoming an elementary teacher.  Those students who enrolled in the elementary teacher preparation program prior to the Fall of 2010 have until the end of the Spring, 2013 semester to complete all required coursework and student teaching.

In order to assist you in determining whether you will be certified under the current requirements or the new requirements, we encourage you to have your records evaluated by a School of Education advisor.  To begin this process, please contact the School of Education Main Office (616 616-632-2800), AB 260) with your name, student ID number, major/minor, telephone number, and email address.  An advisor in the SOE will evaluate your records and contact you with more information.
